Craving rich, comfort food?

Try adding mushrooms to your recipes!

Mushrooms have a rich, savory flavor, also known as umami. The texture is hearty and "meaty".

Admittedly, my kids don't love mushrooms. With the exception of my Polish Mushroom Soup, which my daughter loves. And they'll eat my Lentil Bolognese if I chop the mushrooms into a fine dice.

Another trick, since they like the flavor, just not the texture, is to keep the mushrooms in fairly large slices so they can just pick them out.

Whether the rest of the family eats them or not, I happily make these recipes and enjoy any leftovers myself throughout the week.
